DataWind is reportedly working on a 4G LTE phablet and is testing it with a leading telecom player in the US market. LightReading India has reported that the highly controversial Aakash tablet creator is gearing up to introduce a new 4G enabled phablet in the US in the second half of this fiscal year. Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Infocomm has received a nod for using 10,000 mobile numbers it would require to test its 4G services without any compensation to be paid the government. Out of these, 4,000 numbers have been allotted for Delhi and Mumbai each, and the rest 2,000 in Jamnagar in Gujarat, ET reports. (more…)Google+

Bharti Airtel has added three more cities to its fourth generation network circle as it has today launched its prepaid and postpaid 4G services in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. The operator is already providing its 4G LTE services in Kolkata, Bengaluru and Pune. (more…)Google+

LG Electronics has announced the Optimus G Pro featuring a massive 5.5-inch 1080p full HD IPS display. The device will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress starting next week. Bharti Airtel is reportedly eying to buy out Qualcomm’s Indian partners in its 4G LTE network venture. Qualcomm had acquired BWA spectrum in key circles of Delhi and Mumbai apart from Haryana and Kerala during last year’s BWA spectrum auctions for which it paid close to $1 billion. Airtel today announced it has launched its 4G LTE services in Bengaluru, which becomes the second city in the country after Kolkata to get a 4G network. Apart from the plans already announced in Kolkata, Airtel today announced a new plan that will offer users 30GB of data for Rs 2,999 a month. Users of both Rs 1,999 plan (18GB) and Rs 2,999 will get a cash back offer when they purchase either the multi-mode LTE modem (Rs 7,999) or the indoor CPE with Wi-Fi module (Rs 7,750). (more…)Google+

Bharti Airtel had deployed ZTE to supply and manage its 4G LTE network in Kolkata last month. Airtel has launched India’s first 4G TD-LTE network in Kolkata today. Airtel is claiming download speed of up to 100 Mbps and upload speed of up to 40 Mbps, though these would be the theoretical peak speeds.
