Yesterday I wrote a post on how Apple had hit a new low for its botched attempt at making maps. Probably, I couldn’t make it clear enough that the “quality of maps” was a new low for the company and not the fact that Tim Cook had to apologize to his customers. It takes a lot of courage for a company, especially one the size of Apple, to apologize to its customers when things don’t go as planned. However, it takes cojones of Titanium to recommend services offered by your rivals and that...

Apple introduced iTunes 10.5 beta 9 for developers last Friday and guys at AppleInsider snooped around its property list file (also known as .plist file) to find references to iPhone 4S at two places. However, there is no mention of an iPhone 5, which could mean Apple will unveil just one iPhone and not two as many expect. The iPhone 4S is expected to carry the same appearance of the iPhone 4 with a change in its antenna design and slightly spruced up specs. If that’s the case, how can one justify the C...

MIC Gadget has an interesting story about how iPhone case manufacturers in China got hold of the next iPhone’s tear-drop design and exact specifications. According to them, a Foxconn employee was paid to ‘lose’ an iPhone 5 prototype, which was later sold to case manufacturers. The phone was apparently disguised to look like an iPhone 4 with a fake chassis, just like the iPhone 4 prototype Gizmodo eventually ended up buying last year, which turned out to be the real deal. Nevertheless, based ...

A new image of what is claimed to be an actual iPhone 5 handset emerged today, perhaps giving us our first look at Apple’s fifth-generation smartphone. Posted by MacRumors forum member guigsh, the image shows a slender smartphone that looks even thinner than Apple’s current iPhone 4 model, jibing with reports that the next-generation iPhone could be just 7mm thick. “Picture taken yesterday in the office of a French operator. Believe it or not,” the forum member said. He continued in a ...

After seeing an iPhone 5 knock-off that could potentially be a copy of the real deal, AllThingsD is now reporting that Apple won’t launch the next iPhone in September as widely reported. Instead, it will come in October and that too, late in the month. Now WSJ is one of Apple’s preferred channels for staging an engineered leak to contain consumer and investor expectations, considering just about everyone and their grandmas expect the new iPhone to land in September. What is not known at the moment...

The eagle eyes at CNET UK have found a posting at one of the local job posting site for temporary workers as iPhone sales staff. The job commences on August 16 and goes on till October 29. The headhunting agency, Gekko, claims Apple as one of its clients. Could this be an indication for the time-frame for next iPhone launch? Well, we were expecting it to happen in September but we certainly won’t mind an earlier launch.ReadGoogle+

The next generation of Apple’s iPhone, due for launch in September, will be thinner and lighter than the current one, according to a report in WSJ. Quoting component suppliers in Taiwan, the report claims that the next iPhone is more complicated to assemble, owing to its thinness. Apple has targeted to get about 25 million iPhone 5 (if that is what it will be called) by the end of the year, which could potentially signal a widespread launch (global?) rather than Apple’s usual practice of a stagger...

A report on Tuesday from Chinese financial paper China Times suggests that Apple’s next-generation smartphone has entered trial production and is scheduled for a third-quarter launch. Apple released the iPhone 4 late in the second quarter of 2010, however some speculate Apple may push its iPhone 5 launch back to July or even later in an effort to place more space between its release and the launch of Verizon Wireless’ iPhone 4, which became available this past February. China Times’ report g...

Rumors surrounding an NFC-equipped iPhone from Apple date back to last summer, when Apple hired NFC expert Benjamin Vigier as its Commerce Product Manager. Speculation surrounding how Apple might use NFC dates back even further, of course, considering the many NFC-related Apple patents that have been revealed in the past. On Monday, the flames were rekindled yet again as The New York Times reported Apple will include NFC chips from Qualcomm in a future version of its iPhone handset. The Times’ report do...

A new report emerged on Thursday that resurrects earlier rumors of a larger display on the upcoming iPhone 5, as well as a full circle return to the sleek metal case of days past. The Apple aficionados at 9to5 Mac claim to have a solid source at Foxconn, the Chinese manufacturer responsible for building the iPhone, who claims iPhone 5 production is getting under way. Considering the next iPhone is expected to launch in June, this would certainly make sense. The mole reiterates earlier rumors that the iPhone...
