JBL has launched a number of new iPod docks in India and notably their entire new line up is now ‘Lightning connector’ compliant which means users of the iPhone 5, the new iPod touch, and the iPad mini can seamlessly dock with these audio products without the need of 30-pin to lightning connector adaptor. Of late, Philips has been making great strides in the space of consumer audio. Only recently, we reviewed the Fidelio SoundSphere and we left mighty impressed. Today, Philips has launched yet another unique audio product at CES. Start up a conversation about high-end audio docks and you’ll hear people talk about the B&W Zeppelin, the Bose SoundDock and other comparable offering from companies like Bang and Olufsen or Harman Kardon, but no one will talk about Philips. Dolby has partnered with Sathyam cinemas in Chennai to launch the first Dolby Atmos technology enabled theater in India. The Sathyam Serene in Chennai becomes the first theater in India to be equipped with Dolby’s new object oriented sound technology. Along with this, Sivaji 3D becomes the first Indian movie to have its audio mastered with Dolby’s new technology. The German audio alchemists Sennheiser have launched their Momentum headphones in India for a not so cheap Rs 24,990. JBL has launched the J-series of headphones in India that start at Rs 4,490 without the microphone and Rs 5,490 with the microphone. Philips has launched the DJ party machine iPod compatible dock speaker system in India for Rs 34,990. Essentially, the speaker system brings the DJ experience to a consumer product by allowing for two iPod/iPhones to be docked in turntable like enclosures. Harman and Kardon have launched their CL headphones in India for Rs 9,990. The CL headphones sport a similar aviator design to the Bowers and Wilkins P5 headphones and are iPhone and iPod compliant via a line-in remote for controlling the volume, audio playback and phone calls. (more…)Google+
