RIM is standardizing the screen resolutions of future BlackBerry 10 (BB10) smartphones. It is sticking with two screen resolutions – 720×720 pixels for QWERTY Touch devices and 1280×720 pixels for full touch smartphones. (more…)Google+

In May, RIM showed us a developer alpha device that was running a develop preview of the company’s next generation platform. As BlackBerry 10 was built from the ground up for touch based devices, rather than traditional BlackBerry devices donning QWERTY keyboards, RIM has to build a compelling keyboard experience for touch and now Engadget is reporting that RIM has managed to patent this keyboard. As we predicted earlier in the day RIM CEO Thorsten Heins took the stage and gave us a sneak preview of BlackBerry OS 10 at BlackBerry World in Orlando. The device itself looks like shrunk version of the BlackBerry PlayBook, and it features a 4.2-inch display with a resolution of 1280×768 pixels, NFC, and a micro-SIM tray. The battle began approximately 18 months ago when the government of India decided that it wanted the option to intercept BBM messages. Well, it looks like government base finally had the last laugh as now it has deciphered a way to intercept BBM messages. Mail Today is reporting that security agencies in the country claim that the backend to intercept the 256-bit encryption on BBM messages will be soon up and running and the various agencies will have the ability to tap BBM messages.
