Motorola may have big plans for the holiday season, at least according to a few new leaks from This is my next. Official press shots of the AT&T ATRIX 2 and its brand new Laptop Dock 100 accessory were spilled recently, as were details on an unannounced Motorola Spyder smartphone and two models of the XOOM 2 tablet. Last week we published an exclusive first look at the ATRIX 2 and now several of the phone’s specs have supposedly been confirmed. It is equipped with a 4.3-inch display with a qHD resol...

BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860 hands-on!

By: Todd Haselton |Aug 4th, 2011 at 07:40AM
Filed Under: AT&T, BlackBerry, General, Mobile, RIM, Torch 9850, Torch 9860, full touchscreen

We already gave you rundowns of the all new BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Torch 9810 smartphones, and we also spent time with the BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860 tonight up in Toronto. We picked up this full-touchscreen device with the fear that it could be as miserable as the Storm was, but we were pleasantly surprised. The large screen is very responsive and the 1.2GHz processor has enough power to make every movement through BlackBerry OS 7 feel snappy. The web browser loaded pages quickly and the virtual...

BlackBerry Torch 9810 hands-on!

By: Todd Haselton |Aug 4th, 2011 at 07:01AM
Filed Under: 9810, AT&T, BlackBerry Troch 9810, Mobile, RIM

In addition to getting some hands-on time with a retail version of the BlackBerry Bold 9900, we also got to spend some time with some other devices RIM just made official. The BlackBerry Torch 9810 packs the same form-factor as the original BlackBerry Torch, but updated specs help give it a nice boost compared to the first version. The Torch 9810 will launch on AT&T later this month with 4G HSPA+ connectivity, and it packs a 1.2GHz processor that was noticeably faster as we navigated around the BlackBerry...

BlackBerry Bold 9900 hands-on!

By: Todd Haselton |Aug 4th, 2011 at 06:24AM
Filed Under: 4G, AT&T, Bold 9900, General, HSPA, Mobile, RIM, Toronto

We first saw the BlackBerry Bold 9900 during BlackBerry World earlier this year, but we figured we’d bring you a fresh new look since we’re up in Toronto checking out the release version. We’re loving the thin design just as much as the first time we saw it, and it’s definitely the most elegant BlackBerry Bold to date. The metal bezel gives it a premium feel that will be right at home in an executive’s hands — or a BlackBerry die-hard’s hands — and we also appreciate th...

We have been told that AT&T has begun informing employees across the company, and those who work in retail locations, to finish any sort of employee training as soon as possible. AT&T is asking managers to finish training in order to have employees available for the influx of foot traffic expected in September, a proven source has shared with us. Other reports i...

We know these next-generation iPhone rumors have been out of control (aren’t they every year right before a new iPhone is slated to be released?), but we just received some new information from an incredibly solid source of ours. According to our source, Apple will indeed be launching a prepaid / lower cost iPhone this year. We are told the handset will retail for no more than $350 without contract. Ready for the really interesting part? It’s entirely possible that the low-cost iPhone will in fact...

We exclusively reported details of Google’s first Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone — either a Nexus device, or a “pure Google” flagship handset from one of Google’s key partners — and we now have more information surrounding the world’s most anticipated Android phone. We reported that the handset would nix physical menu keys going forward, and would feature a monster 720p -resolution display, and we have now confirmed with our source that the screen itself is branded as a R...

Google is two devices deep in a quest to deliver its vision of what a mobile device should be, while pushing the envelope forward as far as specifications and collaboration is concerned. BGR has exclusively learned that Google’s next Nexus device, possibly called the Nexus 4G, is going to be an absolute beast. We have been told that the Google Nexus 4G will feature a next-generation dual-core 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz CPU, and contrary to reports about it featuring an NVIDIA Kal-El processor, our source indicates it...

Apple recalling some Verizon iPad 2 units

By: Todd Haselton |Jun 11th, 2011 at 03:43AM
Filed Under: Apple, Mobile, Rumors, Tablets, Verizon

According to 9to5Mac, some Verizon iPad 2 units are being recalled to Apple, including devices mid-shipment. If an iPad 2 comes in with a specific serial number, Cupertino is asking that store employees ship the device back to Apple. Several customers who ordered the iPad 2 have also received “returned to sender” notices from FedEx, too. It’s currently unclear what was wrong with the batch, or if this will stall new shipments, but here’s to hoping that Apple and FedEx sort it out quick...

Filed Under: 4G, Android, General, Mobile, Motorola, Motorola Photon 4G, Photon 4G, Sprint, Webtop, WiMAX, video hands-on

Photos not cutting it? Don’t worry, because your pals at BGR just spent some up close and personal time with the new Motorola Photon 4G. Sprint and Motorola teamed up to take the wraps off this sleek new smartphone earlier today, and we have to say, we’re impressed. With a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera, a secondary front-facing camera, support for Motorola’s webtop solution and, of course, a 4G WiMAX radio, this really might be the...

Filed Under: 4G, Android, General, Mobile, Motorola, Motorola Photon 4G, Photon 4G, Sprint, Webtop, WiMAX

While it just was made official moments ago by Sprint CEO Dan Hesse and Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha, we were able to snag some hands-on time with the 4G beast earlier this morning. For starters, the Motorola Photon 4G features a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera, front-facing camera, and support for Motorola’s webtop solution, which will allow the phone to power a full Firefox browser on your HDTV. As far the feel, the device is extremely solid an...
