Knight Rider's car, the high-tech and probably more popular than David Hasselhoff himself, the K.I.T.T could do everything other than turning invisible. Batman's cars, the recent Tumbler included, could fire missiles and locate enemies but couldn't turn invisible either. The closest cars could get to turning invisible was James Bond's Aston Martin in Die Another Day, but that was as far from reality as James Bond is. Audi wants to make stopping at traffic lights a thing of the past

The company just needs a green light from regulators to start rolling out a time-saving feature to its future cars. Imagine the scene. Your car pulls on to a road and in the distance is a set of traffic lights. But that's okay because the car already knows and is showing on its display the optimum speed to adopt in order to cruise right through them before they change from green to red. However, it's not always possible to beat the lights -- without breaking the speed limits and other rules of the road  -- so the system can also count down the time until the lights will change and use that time to automatically shut down the engine and then fire it up again five seconds before it's time to pull off again. Volvo on Monday posted a short teaser video in which it demos the user interface of Apple’s newly launched CarPlay iOS feature that will let drivers connect their iPhones to upcoming car models and control them via touch and/or voice while driving. CarPlay is fully integrated in Volvo’s new UI for upcoming models, offering users access to a UI that’s similar to the iPhone’s UI, on a touchscreen console placed in the middle of the dashboard.
