Samsung to buy home automation firm SmartThings for $200 million: Report

Internet of Things has been the talk of the town this year, with Google having bought Nest for $3.2 billion, and Apple too unveiling HomeKit SDK for developers at the WWDC. Google’s smart home kicks off ahead of Google I/O with Nest Developer Program

As expected, Google is kicking off its smart home initiative ahead of its annual developer event, Google I/O, which begins tomorrow. The connected home experience will be driven by Nest, the maker of smart thermostat and smoke alarm detectors. Google had acquired Nest in January for $3.2 billion. Google’s Nest acquires Dropcam for a reported $555 million

Google's Nest division is expanding with the acquisition of connected home security camera maker, Dropcam. Both Nest and Dropcam acknowledged the acquisition and ReCode claims the deal was worth $555 million in cash. Google acquired Nest in January for $3.2 billion.
