After a few weeks of its launch, Facebook finally seems to have brought the Home service to the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4, though the support for the latter has come on unofficial terms. As reported on the AndroidCentral, both the devices are now capable of launching the app though surprisingly the update has comes as a part of the Facebook app instead as the Facebook Home App. (more…)Google+

After acquiring companies like Parse, Face.com and Snaptu, Facebook is reportedly in advanced talks to buy Israeli company Waze, Reuters reports. The deal to buy the social mapping startup has been in discussions for more than 6 months and is believed to be worth around $800 million to $1 billion. (more…)Google+

Facebook has reported it has 1.1 billion monthly active users, an increase of 23 percent year-on-year including 751 million mobile users, who have increased by 54 percent since Q1 last year. The social networking giant also revealed that on an average 665 million users came to Facebook daily in the March quarter. Instagram also crossed 100 million users during the quarter. (more…)Google+

Facebook has acquired Parse, a cloud-based platform that provides cross-platform services and tools for developers, to enter in to a new dimension of enabling app developers to build mobile apps that work across mobile platforms and devices as well as integrate with Facebook. The social networking platform will use Parse’s cloud services that help developers in accessing and working on native objects for backend services for data storage, notifications, user management, and more. The recent update to the Facebook app for iOS devices gave users an option to choose what content they wanted to see on their news feed among other new changes. Facebook introduced quite a few innovative features when it launched the Home launcher app for Android devices. Last week, an update for Facebook brought some of these features like Chat Heads and Stickers from Home to the iOS devices. Facebook Home has passed 500,000 installations via the Google Play store. The milestone was noticed by analyst Benedict Evans. Facebook Home was first released to users in the US on April 12 after it was rolled out to international users on the 16th. (more…)Google+

Apple’s iOS 6 Maps was one of the biggest fiascos for the Cupertino-based company and its repercussions were felt by Apple’s employees, especially Richard Williamson who oversaw the iOS 6 Maps team and was subsequently fired from the company. According to a Bloomberg report, Facebook has hired Richard Williamson as its director of engineering earlier this month. (more…)Google+

Barely a week after unveiling Facebook Home and the concept of Chat Heads for Android, Facebook today announced at D: Dive into Mobile conference that it will be bringing a few elements of Facebook Home to iOS. Of course, Apple’s restrictions on iOS ensure Facebook does not do a launcher but it has introduced a new version, Facebook 6.0 that brings Chat Heads among other features to iPhones and iPads. Facebook Home finally became available on Google’s Play Store after what seemed like a long wait for many social media aficionados. But a lot of them were left disappointed because the launcher app only seemed to work for people in the US, even if they had required device. The folks at Modaco.com have now come to their rescue and posted a patched version of Home, which removes the unnecessary app requirements and promises to work on any Android device. (more…)Google+
