Sony PlayStation 4 sales top seven million

Sony says it has sold seven million PlayStation 4 worldwide since its launch last year and admitted it can't make them fast enough, in a welcome change of fortune for the Japanese consumer electronics giant. "The response from the global gaming community for PS4 (PlayStation 4) has been overwhelming and we are truly humbled that gamers are selecting PS4 as their next generation console of choice," Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., said in a statement. Titanfall game is a tentpole release for the Xbox One, but official sources have been suspiciously quiet on the version for Xbox 360. Perhaps that shouldn't be surprising: the game is supposed to leverage the power of the shiny new Xbox One, and seeing it squeezed onto an older console could undermine that notion. ‘Uncharted’ director joins ‘Star Wars’ team

Amy Hennig, Creative Director on the acclaimed video games "Uncharted 2" and "Uncharted 3," has joined "Dead Space" studio Visceral Games with a view to directing an untitled "Star Wars" game. The coup comes a calendar month after Hennig departed "Uncharted" and "The Last of Us" studio Naughty Dog, based in the Los Angeles County city of Santa Monica, and will instead see Hennig based 5½ hours north along the Californian coast, in Redwood City, San Francisco Bay. Kristoffer Von Hassel was elated when he was able to bypass his father's Xbox One login credentials. The five-year-old boy managed this after entering an incorrect password, followed by spaces in the second password entry screen, he was able to completely bypass the login process and access his father's entire profile. PS4 sales double Xbox One as console war heats up

We’re now well past the initial launch phase of the next-generation video game console “war” that began last November when Sony and Microsoft each launched their new console offerings. Sales of both systems exploded out of the gate, but the PlayStation 4 soon pulled ahead and now the Xbox One trails by an increasing margin. At last count, Sony sold more than 6 million units through the beginning of March, while Microsoft’s last official sales figure was 3 million Xbox One units sold in 2013. Now, according to the latest sales estimates, Sony’s PS4 may in fact be widening its lead over the Xbox One. More →
