Sony managed to launch a preemptive strike against Microsoft when it decided to announce the PlayStation 4 in February. However, there was a big glitch in its plan as it never showed the console. Microsoft, all this while, has waited silently as specs of the next Xbox have quietly kept leaking, but now the company has sent out invites for an event on May 21 at its campus in Redmond. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War Judgement has been launched in India and the standard version will retail for Rs 2,999. Gears of War Judgement is the prequel to the Gears of War trilogy and brings a number of new gameplay elements and expands on the backstory of the franchise. Halo is widely acknowledged as the most successful gaming franchise on Microsoft’s Xbox 360. It has been developed by Bungie, which is no longer part of Microsoft and for the past few years Bungie has been in hibernation. Now we know what the sleeping giant has been up to as yesterday it unveiled ‘Destiny’ a MMO/FPS hybrid for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. (more…)Google+

It’s perhaps a foregone conclusion that we will see a new Xbox at E3 in June. In fact only hours back we filled some more details about the product that has been codenamed Durango. Even Sony is hosting an event on February 20, which could be for the PlayStation 4, so a new Xbox is definitely in the works, but Microsoft will not admit it till it’s officially out. For the past year people have been wondering when Microsoft will launch the next version of Xbox. While it is still yet to do so, its competitor Nintendo is already out with its next generation console – The Wii U. Bloomberg believes that users will need to wait for another year as according to it Microsoft will release the next version of the Xbox in the 2013 holiday season between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Halo 4 for the Xbox 360 has been released in India and it is available for Rs 3,299 for the standard edition and Rs 4,599 for the limited edition. Halo 4 is perhaps the biggest Xbox 360 exclusive and is amongst the most highly awaited games of the year. (more…)Google+

After E3, it became pretty apparent that Microsoft was not planning on releasing a new console in 2012. That said, it was only a matter of time before the company released a new console as Nintendo had already announced its Wii U and the competition has the leg up over the Xbox 360 in graphical firepower. Apart from the many Xbox 360 software features Microsoft showcased a lot software material that would be hitting the console in the next twelve months. Microsoft showed off games like Halo 4, Gears of War Judgement, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Forza Horizon, South Park :The Stick of Truth, Tomb Raider, Madden 13, Fifa 13, Ascend: New Gods and Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Microsoft took the stage to kick off E3 with a bang and showed off a slew of new feature upgrades to Xbox 360 and a lot of games for its gaming console. The software giant started the conference with an extended gameplay demo of the upcoming Halo 4 game, but after that it bombarded the press with a barrage of new feature upgrades for its game console. In the world of gaming things do not get bigger than Halo. Microsoft has announced that Halo 4 will hit the shelves on November 6 and has confirmed the iconic Master Chief will return. The game will be set four years after the events of Halo 3 and the Master Chief will return to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe.
