HTC starts rolling out Android Honeycomb for Flyer tablet

So what if other Android tablet vendors are already planning Android ICS updates for their existing tablets? HTC, it seems, is quite content to stay a step behind when it comes to the Flyer. The second largest Android smartphone vendor in the world has announced on its Facebook page it has started rolling out Honeycomb update for the GSM variant of Flyer in Europe and the same will be available for the Wi-Fi only variant pretty soon. It is also pimping the latest version of its Sense UI that has been customiz...

HTC Flyer review

By: Rajat Agrawal |Jul 8th, 2011 at 02:32AM

HTC, despite being Google’s largest Android partner, has been unusually slow to catch up with this tablet bug that has caught every hardware vendor. The first Android tablets were launched almost a year ago but it is only now that we are seeing the Flyer on store shelves. The Flyer does not have the latest buzzwords in tablet-land – dual-core processors, Honeycomb or a 10-inch display – yet it has a trick or two hidden up its sleeve that could potentially be its trump cards.  Hit the jump f...

HTC Flyer launched in India, gets a pricey tag of Rs 39,890

HTC today officially launched the Flyer in India and gave it a pricey tag of Rs 39,890. The 7-inch tablet runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) rather than the tablet-optimized Android 3.0 Honeycomb version. However, that really does not have much of an impact on usage with HTC’s tablet version of Sense UI that makes the tablet much more usable than others running Gingerbread. It runs on a single-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor but in the past fortnight or so that I have been using it, I have never found it ...

HTC Flyer tablet hands-on

HTC’s first tablet is now on sale exclusively at Best Buy, and we’ve been playing with one for the last couple days. We first saw it at MWC and then we played with Sprint’s version, the EVO View 4G, at CTIA, but you know the drill… it’s always totally different when you have one up close for an extended period of time. For all intents and purposes, the HTC Flyer really is a large HTC Sense smartphone, and that results in a good experience at some times and a not-so-good experienc...

HTC is planning to launch its first Android Internet Tablet, the Flyer, in India within the next 45 days. The 32GB, Wi-Fi and 3G version will be priced around Rs 35,000 and will compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Apple’s iPad2. The Flyer has a 7.0-inch display, a 1.5GHz processor and dual cameras (5.0 MP rear camera and 1.3 MP front-facing camera for video calling). We would be interested to see how the Flyer ‘magic pen’ – a capacitive stylus – works for taking down ...
