Pre-orders for the iPad mini have gone live moments ago in a number of countries but most people are still bewildered about Apple’s move of discontinuing the ‘new’ iPad that was launched only earlier this year in favor of another ‘new’ iPad but has retained the iPad 2, which is already more than a year old. The fourth-generation iPad has minor changes over the model it replaces and will be casually called the iPad 4 in the market just like the previous generation iPad was called ...

Apart from launching the iPad mini, Apple also refreshed the iPad with some minor changes. The third-generation iPad has been replaced with the new fourth-generation iPad that has undergone no drastic design changes. Most of the changes are under the hood like a new Apple A6X chipset, which Apple claims is twice as fast as the A5X chipset found on the older iPad. Apple maintains that the fourth-generation iPad will retain the same 10 hour battery performance, which would mean we are also looking at a better b...

Apart from the dramatic entertainment that patent infringement lawsuits between Samsung and Apple provide, they often also give us rare insights into how things work at Apple. The latest one is a glimpse into the original iPad prototype Apple had created some time between 2002 and 2004; an era when tablets meant something a doctor would prescribe than an electronic gadget to play Angry Birds among other things! Apple’s design guru, Jonathan Ive’s deposition before a judge hearing the case where Ap...

Apple on Tuesday circulated invitations to a press conference on March 7th where the Cupertino-based technology giant will unveil its next-generation iPad tablet. The event will be held in San Francisco rather than in New York, as had been reported earlier on Tuesday. Apple’s iPad 3 is expected to feature a high-definition 2,048 x 1,536-pixel Retina Display, a new quad-core Apple A6 processor, a larger battery, embedded 4G LTE connectivity, an 8-megapixel camera and an exterior design that is very sim...

As far as apps for the iPad go, Microsoft Office is perhaps the most illusive one. This has been the one killer app every business professional has aspired for. Today, The Daily has posted an exclusive story on Microsoft Office for the iPad, with an image punctuating the story. While we have no way of confirming the report, it sure looks legitimate as the image suggests an ‘Metro’ style splash screen for the iPad highlighting Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and also a Bing search bar in the bottom. ABC recently became the latest news organization to be given a look inside consumer electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn’s facilities in Shenzhen and Chengdu, China, and the Nightline special that resulted from the trip will air on Tuesday. In the meantime, ABC News has posted a 90-second teaser video containing footage from reporter Bill Weir’s trip to China. Apple, of course, is the only Foxconn partner mentioned in the preview so we can expect the forthcoming report to focus on the Cupertin...
