Apple has reportedly cut orders for LCD panels for the iPhone 5 from Japan Display, LG Display and Sharp. Nikkei reports that the orders have been cut down by as much as 80 percent from Japan Display and 40 percent from Sharp when compared to the orders during October-December period. This has led many to think about weakening demand for the iPhone 5, which would have a big impact on Apple's stock price considering the iPhone accounts for over half of Apple's revenues. But is there more to it than meets the eye? More →
If you are out shopping for an iPhone 5 in India, you are most likely to be asked to wait or pre-book one as it is sold out. Most cellphone retailers will tell you that they are expecting Apple's distributors to get the next shipment soon. Many will even crib about the limited stock they received, which is not even enough to satiate the pre-bookings they already have from their customers. ET's Hitesh Raj Bhagat (disclosure: he happens to be a friend of mine) reported about it a couple of days ago and briefly hinted whether retailers are hoarding the iPhone 5 and selling it at a premium. The stark reality is that they indeed are doing that. Read on for our investigation. More →

Many of our readers have been pinging us with the iPhone 5 pricing and we have been hearing the same prices from our sources too. But we had been waiting for some sort of official confirmation about the same before reporting it. And now we seem to have it, courtesy Redington, one of Apple's two distribution partners in India. As expected, the iPhone 5 will start from Rs 45,500 for the 16GB version, Rs 52,500 for 32GB and Rs 59,500 for 64GB. Apple's other distribution partner today announced that the iPhone 5 will be available across India from November 2. The photos here might be of the older generation iPhone, but we are quite certain these are just placeholder photos. We are also hearing that Airtel and Aircel might just announce reverse subsidy plans for the iPhone 5 just like they did for the iPhone 4S last year. We will have the details with us in the next few days. Hat tip to Rishi, iSheep!
Apple's partners have announced today that the iPhone 5 will be available in India on November 2 just like BGR India exclusively reported earlier this week. However, the pricing has not been confirmed, but is expected to start from slightly over Rs 45,000. Today Apple also introduced app pricing in Indian Rupees in its App Store. Earlier this month Apple slashed prices of the iPhone 4S to Rs 38,500 and the iPhone 4 to Rs 26,500 in preparation for the iPhone 5 launch. According to a statement issued by Ingram Micro, "it will offer [the] iPhone 5 at leading modern trade and retail outlets across India, beginning Friday, November 2." The statement does not mention any pricing. More →
We exclusively reported earlier about Apple's plans to launch the iPhone 5 in India on October 26. Since our exclusive report, we have had the mainstream press citing their own "industry sources" claiming the same. Some even reported about pre-orders for the iPhone 5 going live on October 19 in India, which of course did not happen. We are less than a week away from October 26 and we have been hearing a lot of chatter from our sources in the past couple of weeks. We have been getting a lot of requests from our readers on the current status of the iPhone 5 launch in India and it is time we provided them with an update. Will Apple announce the iPhone 5 launch in India on October 26? Most likely. Will it be available to buy on October 26? Highly unlikely. Read on for details. More →
The iPhone 5 is launching in India in the coming weeks and we are told all major carriers are busy testing Nano SIMs on the phone to ensure everything runs smoothly at the time of launch. BGR India had earlier exclusively reported that carriers were placing orders for Nano SIMs and today one of our readers has sent us photographs of a sample Nano SIM card that Airtel might use. More →
This is the news you all had been waiting for and you read it first on BGR India! Multiple sources have confirmed to us that Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 5 in India on the last Friday of this month, which happens to be October 26. As we had exclusively reported earlier, Apple will be distributing the iPhone 5 in India on its own rather than relying on its carrier partners. More →
