Aluminum clad Lenovo ThinkPad S3 and S5 leaked

Lenovo has been known for its ThinkPad range of laptops and more recently its carbon fiber made ThinkPad range has gained quite a lot of traction. But carbon fiber is not a universally acceptable material, and some desire the cold feel of metal, just like Apple’s MacBooks. Looks like Lenovo has been listening to its consumers as two new laptops— the ThinkPad S3 and the ThinkPad S5 were leaked on the Chinese social network Sina Weibo. This was first spotted by Engadget. PC market takes record plunge, Window 8 failed to improve situation as smartphones and tablets take over

The PC market has been witnessing a downfall across the globe owing to a sharp rise in the popularity of smartphones and tablets as well as the slow adoption of Windows 8, according to reports by both IDC and Gartner. Samsung may exit netbook business in 2012

Samsung is considering an exit from the low-margin netbook business as soon as next year according to a recent report. Samsung’s Alex Chrome OS notebook details leak

Acer lowers Q1 guidance as iPad 2 rocks PC industry

Shares of Acer stock were down nearly 7% on the Taiwan Stock Exchange Tuesday on news that the PC manufacturer had unexpectedly and significantly lowered it’s first-quarter sales estimates. The PC maker had previously estimated its first-quarter PC sales would grow 3% from the previous quarter. Now, Acer has adjusted its forecast, saying it expects sales to drop 10% compared to the prior quarter.
