Acer’s W3-810 leaked last month, but not much was known about the tablet. Today the folks at PCWorld spotted the tablet accidently listed on Amazon for $380 (Rs 20,000 approximately), before it was promptly taken down. (more…)Google+

Acer has announced the next generation of its Liquid series of smartphones in the form of the Liquid E2. It is Acer’s first smartphone with a quad-core processor, will come with optional dual-SIM feature and is pegged as a mid-range smartphone. (more…)Google+

About a month back, we had reported about Microsoft easing the hardware requirements for Windows 8 tablets, which was an indication that there could be smaller tablets in the pipeline. A report on French blog MiniMachines now claims to have credible information that Acer will be one of the first companies to launch a smaller Windows 8 tablet. (more…)Google+

The iPad may have the lion’s share of the high-end market, but there remains a massive market for a low-cost tablet. Android of course has also matured into a viable tablet operating system, especially for 7-inch tablets. In 2013 we have witnessed a number of decent options in the market. Acer was recently reported to be introducing its 5-inch phablet at this year’s Computex that takes place in Taipei in June, and now a report suggests that the company is also working on launching a budget tablet at the same event. The new Acer tablet, named Iconia A1-810, has been spotted at a French ecommerce retailer RueduCommerce, which is flashing it on pre-order at €199 (approximately Rs 14,150). The interesting part to notice is that the website is flashing it as an alternative to the iPad Mini ...

After launching Android smartphones like the Liquid E1 and the Liquid C1 more recently, Acer is reportedly working on entering the fast-growing phablet market for the first time. When Google launched the Nexus 7 in a market dominated by Apple’s iPad, not many would have expected just how big an impact this tablet that can fit in a palm or a pant pocket would have. The impact was such that it compelled the mighty Apple to develop and launch its very own iPad mini to take advantage of this lucrative segment. Acer and Intel have announced the Liquid C1 smartphone, which runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It is powered by Intel’s newly announced Lexington chipset – The Atom Z2420, which has a clock speed of 1.2GHz and has hyper-threading technology built-in. Only last week Lava had announced the Xolo X500 that was based on the same chipset, but there are some major differences between the two devices. (more…)Google+

At CES we saw Acer launch the Iconia B1 Android Jelly Bean tablet, which was launched for $149. Later, the device came to India for Rs 7,999, but now there are rumblings via China Times which suggest that Acer could be developing a sub-$250 quad-core processor equipped 10-inch tablet. Acer has unveiled the Liquid E1 Android smartphone. The device is essentially a toned-down version of the Cloud Mobile S500. The Android 4.1 Jelly bean smartphone does not set the house on fire in terms of specifications, but then again it is not targeting a premium customer. (more…)Google+
