It’s been almost one year since Microsoft appointed Satya Nadella as its new CEO, and under his realm, the company has taken some of the most dramatic decisions in its decades-long existence. Whether it was laying off 18,000 employees or shutting Nokia’s Android project, Nadella has taken several bold steps. Nadella should also be credited for the company's decision to build products for other platforms. If that wasn’t absolutely clear by company’s move to make Office products for iPad, it also re-launched Outlook on iPhone and iPads. Apple for the first time last year offered a bigger sized variant of the iPhone 6, which has been a runaway success. Apple tied with Samsung as world’s largest smartphone vendor

Samsung, which for years has touted to be the largest smartphone manufacturer by shipment figures, has found itself a new stark rival. The company reported its fourth quarterly earnings for 2014 last night, in which it revealed that it had shipped 95 million mobile handsets. Of this voluminous amount, between 71 to 75 million handsets were smartphones, Samsung noted. The figure is on par with the number of iPhones Apple sold last quarter. More →

Apple iPhone 6 caught running on iOS 9 in benchmark results

Apple has been caught testing an iPhone 6 running on iOS 9. The reference to the unannounced operating system cropped up in the Basemark OS II results database. Apple usually releases new version of its operating systems in Worldwide Developers Conference which usually takes place in the month of June. Apple announces record Q1 2015 earnings, 6 key takeaways

Apple reports quarterly revenues of almost $75 billion and profits of $18 billion (world record for profits in a single quarter). The company is expected to post annual revenue of $300 billion and profits of almost $100 billion in 3-4 years. Its share of revenues the iPhone in the December quarter was $51.182 billion.  In comparison, Microsoft reported revenues of $26.47 billion. There is a very good chance that the revenue from the iPhone will exceed the combined revenues of Google and Microsoft for the same quarter. Apple releases OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 software update, fixes the annoying Wi-Fi drop issue

Alongside the iOS 8.1.3 software update, Apple also released OS X Yosemite 10.10.2, the second update to the desktop operating system since its release in October. Apple has released the iOS 8.1.3 software update for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. Being a point update, the update doesn't offer any major new features but does bring with it bug fixes and performance improvements. The other interesting thing about the update is that it claims to reduce the amount of free storage required to download and perform the update. More →

Apple is selling 9 iPhones every second, has sold 1 billion iOS devices

During Apple’s earnings call with investors, CEO Tim Cook announced that the company has shipped more than one billion iOS devices. That includes iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch. The billionth device, which was sold back in November last year, was a space grey 64GB iPhone 6 Plus, Cook noted. More →
