Research firm IDC has posted its quarterly report on the smartphone market which suggests that Windows Phone devices have finally overtaken BlackBerry smartphones in terms of shipments. This also means that devices running Microsoft’s OS take third spot in terms of smartphone shipments during the first quarter of 2013. According to the report, Windows Phone devices accounted for 3.2 percent of total shipments while BlackBerry devices fell to 2.9 percent from 3.2 percent in the previous quarter. (more...

In what is easily the biggest announcement at the BlackBerry Live conference today, CEO Thorsten Heins revealed that the Canadian company will finally launch its popular messaging service across other platforms. BlackBerry has unveiled the Q5 smartphone running on BB10 at BlackBerry World. It flaunts the famed BlackBerry QWERTY keypad and targets the consumer on a budget. The phone actually looks quite similar to the rumored R10 which has been leaked multiple times in the last few months. Right at the beginning of BlackBerry Live conference in Orlando, CEO Thorsten Heins announced that BB 10.1 will be available for BlackBerry Z10 users starting today. The OS, which was first available on the QWERTY Q10, will bring in most of the features to the touch device. (more…)Google+

Back in February, BlackBerry launched its first BlackBerry 10 smartphone the Z10 in India, which was an all-touch device. It did relatively well, but BlackBerry introduced limited units in the market, but for the BlackBerry faithful who desired a hardware QWERTY keyboard, it was not exactly the perfect solution. Now it seems like BlackBerry is gearing up to launch the Q10 which features a full QWERTY keyboard in India as online vendors have put the device up for pre-order. (more…)Google+

BlackBerry’s 10.1 OS update which has promised a lot of new features through earlier leaks, has seemed to have arrived on select BlackBerry Z10 devices. The folks at GSMArena have been tipped about the roll out in Philippines, with a global rollout soon to follow. (more…)Google+

A couple of days back a photograph of a red BlackBerry phone with a QWERTY keypad leaked online which we told you was the R10, a cheaper alternative to the high-end Q10. When BlackBerry first launched the Z10 – a full-touch smartphone – buyers asked for one with a physical QWERTY keypad. Now that the smartphone vendor has started rolling out the Q10, a premium smartphone with a QWERTY keypad, they want a cheaper variant. BlackBerry services faced service outage earlier today. Initially there were delays in delivering BBM messages and emails, eventually resulting in a complete breakdown. This is the first such major outage this year though it faced severe outages last year. (more…)Google+
