Micromax these days seem to be choosing to keep a low profile while announcing its new phones. After the recently reported Micromax Ninja A91 being spotted selling on an e-commerce portal, we now have the Micromax A72 Canvas Viva, which surfaced on Snapdeal. Micromax has been riding high on the success of Canvas HD A116 and is now encashing the popularity of the Canvas series by introducing 3D photo capture technology in it. If the images posted on Twitter by MMXNewscaster are to be considered, Micromax is almost ready with the all new Canvas 3D A115 model featuring a similar look but with twist of a 3D interface. Ecommerce portal Saholic is flashing Micromax’s new smartphone Ninja A91 with a price tag of Rs 8,499. While there is no official announcement of the smartphone from Micromax as yet, Saholic has put the phone up for sale and is promising to deliver it with 4 working days. (more…)Google+

Ericsson has reportedly sued Micromax for patent infringement and has moved to the Delhi High Court according to a report by Economic Times. Reportedly, Ericsson is claiming Rs 100 crores in damages. According to the report Ericsson claims it is taking legal action against Micromax after three years of negotiations that failed related to ‘standards-essential’ patents. (more…)Google+

Micromax is facing shipment delays and price hike for its highly anticipated Canvas HD Android smartphone. The company has sent mails to customers who had pre-booked the device via Snapdeal that their order would be delayed due to “procedural issues.” Micromax has also hiked the price of the Canvas HD to Rs 14,499 from its launch price of Rs 13,990, attributing it to the hike in excise duty as envisaged in this year’s annual budget. A quad-core processor, a 720p display and an 8-megapixel camera in a package worth Rs 13,990 is something people dream about in a world dominated by the Samsung Galaxy S III. Of course, at such a price the quality and user experience is not guaranteed, but that’s what Micromax is trying to prove with the Canvas HD. Micromax isn’t basking in the success of its Canvas HD, which sold 9,000 units in less than 24 hours of launch and has now discreetly introduced another 7-inch tablet to its Funbook range called the Micromax Funbook P600. The Micromax Canvas HD went on sale yesterday and as we also pointed out in our hands-on of the device, it is amongst the most anticipated smartphones in the country.
