For sometime there have been rumors about a toned down version of the Xperia Z smartphone that will have a smaller screen and perhaps a lower resolution display called the Xperia ZR. Following the leak of the Sony Xperia A, images of another new Sony smartphone have emerged on the Internet. This time around the folks at the XperiaBlog are responsible for the leak. These images feature a white colored Xperia phone with model number S39h, based on the new design pattern seen in the Sony’s latest models released this year. Sony’s smartphone roadmap for the year will most likely include some more high-end smartphones, as photos and specifications of a new phone named Xperia A have surfaced on the Federal Communications Commission’s website. Yesterday we reported that Sony was planning to launch a smartphone that goes by a the codename Honami in the second half of the year. The device is said to have an 20-megapixel or 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, which points towards impressive imaging capabilities and now thanks to Taiwanese site VR-Zone, more details about the camera sensor have emerged. Sony has attained quite a bit of success with the Xperia Z smartphone, but looks like the company is not resting on its laurels. According to multiple reports the company has two flagship products planned for the second half of the year called the Togari and the Honami. The Togari is said to have a 6.44-inch display while the Honami will be the successor to the Xperia Z and will have a design that will rival the iPhone 5 and will probably have a 5-inch display. Like the Xperia S, Sony has posted its first Android 4.2 AOSP for its latest flagship, the Xperia Z. An Android AOSP is a means for converting the Android software stack to a vanilla Android state and to further this cause Sony is pursing a separate AOSP project for the Xperia Z. (more…)Google+

A week back, Sony had announced the Xperia SP in India for Rs 27,490, which is now available on Flipkart on pre-order for Rs 25,990. The ecommerce portal is offering the phone at this price till April 24, which is when it is also expecting the phone to get released. (more…)Google+

The Xperia Z has turned out to be a pretty successful smartphone for Sony globally. It meshes the best Sony has to offer, but even as our review points out the best of Sony is not really the best that one can get, it’s good value nonetheless. That said, Sony is really looking for integrating some of the company’s best technologies in a smartphone under its “One Sony” motto. We see a lot of smartphones running on quad-core processors coming in the mid-range smartphone market, and now Sony is also rumored to be working on expanding its portfolio with a mid-range quad-core phone, if a Digitimes report is to be believed. (more…)Google+
