ZTE has announced that it will be entering the Indian market and release smartphones and tablet across major states by the end of October this year. For this, the company has tied up with Calyx Telecommunications as their distribution, sales and marketing partner. ZTE will take care of the products and post-sales service parts itself. Yesterday, ZTE announced two of its 3G data cards in India, and a day after ZTE has announced the ZTE GEEK, which is its first phablet to feature Intel’s Clover Trail+ processor at the ongoing Intel Developer Forum (IDF) Spring 2013 in Beijing. Along with launching the ZTE Open, the company’s first Firefox OS phone at the ongoing Mobile World Congress, ZTE has also launched the Grand Memo phablet. The 5.7-inch phablet is one of the first Android phones to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. (more…)Google+

Mozilla Firefox OS makes its first landing on ZTE Open and Alcatel One Touch Fire smartphones, both of which are flaunting the new OS at the MWC. While announcing the launch of the Firefox OS, Mozilla also disclosed its partners including ZTE, Alcatel, Huawei and LG as phone manufacturers, Qualcomm for providing Snapdragon chipsets, and so far 18 operators for bundled services. We all knew that ZTE would showcase its first Firefox OS smartphone at MWC and now a spy shot of the phone’s spec sheet has made it online. Engadget received the photo from a reader and it looks like the ZTE Open will be a fairly entry-level smartphone running on modest hardware. (more…)Google+

Chinese mobile maker ZTE announced earlier today that it will, in partnership with Nvidia, launch the first Tegra 4 smartphone. The phone will be first launched in China by mid-2013. Very few details about the device are available at the moment, but ZTE says that the new devices will feature 72 custom NVIDIA GeForce GPU cores and quad-core Cortex A15 CPU for high performance. Chinese mobile handset makers Huawei and ZTE have climbed up in the smartphone sales chart crossing LG and HTC according to a sales report by IDC. The report on the smartphone sales for the Q4 2012 shows Huawei’s market share jumping by 89.5 percent over the year while ZTE’s share grew by 48.4 percent placing them among the world’s top five handset makers. ZTE is continuing the trend of 1080p smartphones at CES with the launch of the Grand S. Like some of the other smartphones launched at the show, the Grand S also flaunts a 5-inch 1080p panel, which is becoming a standard for a flagship smartphone. ZTE claims that at 6.9mm it is the world’s thinning 5-inch smartphone, but that’s a claim we have not been able to ratify yet. (more…)Google+
