For the past couple of days there have been reports of a potential Tumblr acquisition by Yahoo. Citing sources with close knowledge of the deal, AllThingsD is now reporting that Yahoo’s board of directors has approved a $1.1 billion acquisition of the blogging platform. (more…)Google+

Yesterday, we reported that Yahoo was considering acquiring Tumblr, the social blogging website for $1 billion. Now, AllThingsD is reporting that, the Yahoo board is going to meet on Sunday to decide on an all cash deal to acquire Tumblr for $1 billion. (more…)Google+

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer seems to be continuing on her acquisition spree with AdWeek reporting that the California-based company is in advanced talks to take over Tumblr. According to the report, the deal to acquire the social blogging site could reach nearly $1 billion. (more…)Google+

Yahoo! has acquired Astrid, a to-do-list app, that lets users prepare detailed task lists on their Android or iOS devices. Astrid announced the acquisition on its official blog, though no details on how much the deal is worth was revealed. (more…)Google+

Ever since Marissa Mayer has taken over as the new CEO for Yahoo!, the company has been steadily concentrating on the mobile platform, acquiring smaller companies like Snip.It and Summly and also revamping its email client by integrating it with Dropbox. Ever since Marissa Mayer was appointed as the new CEO for Yahoo! back in July, the company has been steadily acquiring smaller companies and also revamping its website and email clients. Since taking over as the CEO in July last year, Marissa Mayer has been busy tweaking Yahoo to compete against its biggest rival, Google. Flickr has finally revamped its iOS app, which makes it easier to click, share and browse through photos. The app includes many features of Flickr’s online version like editing, managing and sharing photos. The photos remain sharp and do not compromise on clarity as they are stored in high resolution. Google’s employee number 20 and the first female employee, Marissa Mayer, has quit Google to join Yahoo as its latest CEO and president. Mayer resigned from Google today via telephone and joins Yahoo tomorrow, indicating she was already in a transition period. She was approached by Yahoo in June for the top job, NYT reports. Scott Thompson, who stepped down from Yahoo’s CEO post few hours ago, reportedly informed the company’s board and some colleagues over the weekend that he had been diagnosed with Thyroid cancer, according to a WSJ report. Yahoo today announced the appointment of Ross Levinsohn as its interim CEO as Scott Thompson left the company amid a scandal involving him claiming a computer science degree in his profile, which he never attained. AllThingsD‘s Kara Swisher is reporting that Yahoo’s board will announce the departure of its CEO, Scott Thompson after a computer science degree that was mentioned in his bio turned out to be a false claim. Thompson was appointed as the CEO in January this year and came from PayPal, where he had served as the company’s president. (more…)Google+
