Those on iOS platform who missed the live streaming of videos and events from YouTube can now enjoy watching live events on the YouTube application for iOS. Google has updated its YouTube app for iOS, which now offers some new features including access to live streaming, access to new uploads in My Subscriptions feed and more. The next version of iOS could bring the biggest overhaul to the iPhone’s operating system, if Apple blogger and commentator John Gruber is to be believed. According to Gruber, Apple engineers with privileges of carrying the new iPhone or an iPhone running iOS 7 are using polarizing filters on the display (privacy screen guard?) to ensure that no one else can see the major UI changes. The music website Hungama.com has finally arrived as a dedicated music app for Android, iOS and BlackBerry 10 platforms. Hungama.com’s arrived much later to the market, given that its competitors like Gaana.com and Saavn are already providing support for offline music streaming. (more…)Google+

Apple has released an update for iOS devices that fixes a key Exchange bug that resulted in battery drain for many users. Apparently it was an Exchange calendar bug that resulted in increased network activity, hence draining the battery. The update is also expected to fix a security flaw that enabled people to bypass the homescreen password lock and gave access to data stored on the device, though Apple obviously does not mention than in its update description. The biggest user-interface change Apple heralded with the iPhone 5 was the addition of one extra column owning to the taller display of the new iPhone. Apple today finally released the much-awaited iOS 6.1 update for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. The update brings LTE connectivity to 36 additional LTE carriers around the world (no, India is not supported). Other updates include buying movie tickets from Siri via Fandango (US-only) and the ability for iTunes Match users to download individual songs from iCloud. One of the many reasons people choose to jailbreak the iPhone is to gain access to apps that flout Apple’s rules or to get cracked versions of paid apps. Facebook has started rolling out a Photo Sync feature for iOS users that uploads photos from the phone’s photo album directly to a private Facebook album. Users can see the synced photos album on Facebook later and select the ones they want to make public later. The feature can be activated from the photos menu on the Facebook for iOS app by clicking on the synced photos menu. Users get 2GB of storage space for photos. Google is preparing a Maps app for the iPhone after Apple booted it out from the latest version of its iOS operating system. Google Maps had been the default mapping app for iPhone since its launch in 2007 but Apple decided to go for its own maps solution in iOS 6. We know where that story went. WSJ is claiming that Google is currently giving final touches to its Maps app for iOS before it submits it to the App Store for Apple’s approval. (more…)Google+
