Sony Ericsson launches W8 Android smartphone on Reliance with a reverse subsidy model

Sony Ericsson today officially launched the W8 Android Walkman smartphone in India on RCom’s GSM and 3G networks. The two companies have followed Aircel’s and Airtel’s iPhone 4 reverse subsidy models and are providing up to 100 per cent money back spread over a period of 12 or 24 months. The W8 is nothing more than Sony Ericsson’s X8 and brings nothing significantly new to the table apart from the Walkman branding.
