Sony launches Android tablets in India [update]

Sony today officially launched the Tablet S in India for Rs 29,990 for the Wi-Fi edition. It also intends to launch the 3G edition for Rs 33,990 and the Tablet P, the clamshell tab with two 5.5-inch displays for Rs 36,990, by mid-January. Sony India already had the Tablet S Wi-Fi edition listed on its site and demo units have been available at many Sony Centers. Sony Tablet S to retail at Rs 29,990 in India

Sony’s Tablet S is now available in India for Rs 29,990 for its 16GB Wi-Fi only version, if Sony India’s official site is to be believed. This will pitch it directly against the base version of the iPad2. The Tablet S will be the first Android tablet and features a unique ‘folded magazine’ design. Sony S1 Android Honeycomb tablet running PlayStation Suite spotted [video]

Notebook Italia recently posted a hands-on video showing off several features of Sony’s S1 Android Honeycomb tablet. The S1 was announced in April — alongside the S2 — and is set for a fall release, but Sony hasn’t provided many chances for press to check out the device first-hand.
