Back in February, Twitter gave its app for Windows Phone a huge update bringing it on par with Android and iOS siblings, but it still lacked the one feature that has become sort of a rage in recent times—photo filters. Paying heed to the requests, Twitter has now introduced this feature for Windows Phones in the latest update along with introducing some new features like Vine playback support and Lens app integration among others. A month back, Twitter discontinued all of TweetDeck’s apps, leaving just the web browser based apps behind. The micro-blogging website has now announced an update for the browser-based and the Chrome apps, introducing a fresh and much cleaner interface. (more…)Google+

After launching Vine for iOS devices earlier this year, Twitter has finally brought the six-second video sharing service to Google’s Android OS. On this occasion, Twitter also revealed that Vine had amassed more than 13 million users in just five months. (more…)Google+

Sometimes keeping track of all the information on Twitter can get a bit overwhelming and that is where Twitter’s lists are really helpful. Earlier today, the micro-blogging website gave the lists a refresh, allowing users to create more lists and include more people on those created. (more…)Google+

Twitter has released an update to its iOS app that brings a new composer that makes it easy to share pictures and lets users preview tweets before publishing them. The new compose screen gives three options – location, click new photo and choose existing photo – and the photo shows up in the compose screen that lets users see how the tweet would look like. It doesn’t show a preview of a tweet, as the changelog seems to indicate. (more…)Google+

Earlier this week Twitter beefed up its security by introducing a two-factor authentication system (2FA) where users could choose to get a second temporary login password when they signed on to Twitter from an Internet browser. This was a much asked-for feature after incidents of high-profile Twitter accounts, especially of news organizations, were hacked in recent weeks. However, the new system offers little protection and does almost nothing when it comes to securing team accounts. (more…)Google+

In the eye of recent hacking attempts on the micro-blogging site, Twitter today introduced an added layer of security to its login page. Twitter calls it the ‘two-factor authentication’ system, which uses one’s mobile phone as an added way to verify if it is genuine login attempt. (more…)Google+

After acquiring We Are Hunted last month to boost its own #Music service, Twitter has acquired another startup called Ubalo. The startup’s CEO Jacob Mattingly and CTO Ian Downes announced the acquisition on their blog, though the terms of the deal were not disclosed. (more…)Google+

Following Google’s recent announcement on Mirror API as well as the Collective program for app developers for its project Glass, a Twitter app for Glass have surfaced online. Techcrunch has noticed that an app developer Janothan Gottfried has spotted some random tweets highlighting ‘Twitter for Glass’ as the source device, which hints at an official Twitter app for Google Glass is under works. In a time when social media has become increasingly mobile-based, Twitter has taken a step back of sorts and updated its Mac app. The app which was last updated over a year ago, has been given a variety of new features like Retina display support, quicker photo uploads, keyboard shortcuts and also support for additional languages among others. In what is the first of its kind event, TV channel Comedy Central will be holding a five-day comedy festival on Twitter. The festival will centered around the #ComedyFest hashtag and will include American comedians like Mel Brooks and Amy Schumer posting jokes and video links on Twitter and video-snippets of their acts on Vine, NYT reports. Twitter has announced that the TweetDeck app will be removed from Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store on May 7. Twitter will also remove the Adobe AIR version of the app as it moves shifting TweetDeck’s focus from native apps to a browser based one. It will also remove Facebook integration with its web-based HTML5 client. The micro blogging service had earlier announced its plans to discontinue TweetDeck apps but had not announced any formal date. (more…)Google+
