While we have known for some time that the upgrade path from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro will cost $39.99, a stand-alone copy of Windows 8 Pro is going to cost $199, reports TheVerge. Microsoft will offer the Windows 8 Pro retail package for $69.99 till January 31, 2013 but it will start charging $199 after the promotion expires. (more…)Google+

Microsoft has opened registrations for the very enticing $14.99 Windows 8 upgrade for people who purchased a PC between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013. Registrations will remain open till 28 February 2013. Those who purchased a PC before June 2 will be available for $39.99 upgrade, which again is much cheaper than a full blown copy of Windows. Microsoft has announced that any computer running Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 will be eligible for a $39.99 update to Windows 8 Pro through download that will be available in 131 countries. Microsoft will even add the Media Center bundle in add-on package. (more…)Google+
