Dota 2 may not have been on the news for a while, but the developers are planning to change that. The International, which is one of the biggest, if not the biggest gaming event of the year, is all set to begin in August. And as is the tradition, The International 2018 Battle Pass has now arrived following tradition. And it is clear that the developers have put some effort into the new Battle Pass to get back the limelight. And what better way to do that than by introducing a Battle Royale mode with the Battle Pass.
The new Battle Pass is bringing a bunch of new features and the most interesting one is probably the new game mode which is called The Underhollow which is described as a multi-team dungeon clash. And here is how it is described in the blog:
Roshan is on a ravenous, cheese-fueled rampage and Battle Pass owners are invited to venture beyond the surface of his lair into the heart of the Underhollow.
Battle through a labyrinth filled with monsters, marvels, and many other three-player enemy squads as you search for Roshan’s rarest cheese and work to be the last team standing. You’ll need to navigate carefully to earn the XP and Gold needed to destroy your opponents.
But don’t take too long—Roshan’s cheese frenzy is causing cave-ins as he moves towards the center of the Underhollow. Soon enough there will be nowhere left to run.
From what we can gather, this easily refers to a battle royale mode, just not in as many words. Besides this, the Battle Pass is bringing new rewards as part of a feature called “Cavern crawl”, and you might even win a Jade Baby Roshan courier from it as well. Other features include a new Mutation Mode, new sprays for players, a team challenge, custom lane creep in-game tipping, role-based matchmaking queue, pro circuit predictions, favorite teams with sprays, and prize pool rewards.
Apart from these other regular features include token wagering, Arcana vote, queue trivia, recycling Immortal items, Rylai’s Battle Blessing and of course The International 2018 Compendium. These are recurring features that we have seen in the past Battle Passes as well.
There are several new Battle Pass level related rewards this time and the most prominent of these include new Immortal treasure chests, chat wheel sprays, seasonal chat wheel sounds, exclusive The Emerald Abyss terrain, Hell-Spar Anathema which is a Lion prestige item, Meepo announcer pack, taunts, a legacy bundle named Promise of Eminent Revival, an evolving courier named Eimer Hillburrow, river vials, special seasonal effects, Battle Point tribute, Dota Plus rewards, and miscellaneous rewards along with collectors edition Aegis of the Immortal and a Baby Roshan statue.
