Fortnite has been a phenomenon for a while now and surpassed its biggest rival Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds a little while back in terms of player base and revenues. And now according to digital game sales tracker SuperData Research, Fortnite has made about $296 million in the month of April from PC, consoles and mobile.

This amount is more than double of what the game made Epic game in the month of February when it surpassed PUBG on the basis of monthly sales. PUBG has had a hard time since, keeping up with the ever growing popularity of Fortnite. The basic difference between the marketing strategy of the two games is that Epic Game’s Fortnite is free to play, compared to PUBG that has a price of Rs 999.

Both games make their money by selling in-game cosmetic items that do not interfere with gameplay, but enhance the glamor quotient of the players. In Fortnite these include goofy dance celebrations, popular costumes and characters, while PUBG has various clothing items, weapon skins.

The other difference is the gameplay style that is offered by each game. Fortnite employs cartoonish graphics with easy-to-use controls and shooting. Compared to this, PUBG strives to make things realistic and has a very steep learning curve, no to mention difficult controls. Sniping on PUBG is akin to real life in the aspects that the player has to compensate for the distance, bullet drop, and the speed of the target if its moving.

Even after PUBG launched its mobile version on both Android and iOS, Fortnite has managed to outdo it with just its iOS version. Epic Games is planning its Android release something this summer.
