If you are an active player of Fortnite, the most popular game in the world right now, then you are possibly a displeased person since yesterday. Epic Games took its servers offline for an unspecified duration yesterday for emergency maintenance on its servers that have been facing login issues. The unspecified time extended to over 12 hours, which was more than any other time the servers have been down.
“We’re sorry for the ongoing extended instability. We had a critical failure with one of our account service databases. As a result, our login and matchmaking systems are unstable. Our team has been working through the night on fixes in order to bring the game fully back up. Right now we don’t know how long it will take, but we will update you hourly,” an Epic Games employee was quoted as saying on Reddit.
This was followed by multiple updates, which stated the nature of the problems, and also revealing that it would take a while to fix them. And while the game was down on all the platforms, the PC servers were the first to recover and PlayStation servers took a while longer.
The Battle Bus once again operational! Hop in and hop on 🙂 🚍🎉

After the servers came back online, the Fortnite team apologized for the downtime, and even offered additional rewards as compensation to people.
We messed up here. As thanks for being awesome and patient, we’re doing the following:
– For Battle Royale players, this weekend we’ll be offering a Back Bling gift that you can pick up in the store for free.
– For our Save the World folks, this weekend we will be offering a Troll Stash Llama in the loot tab for free.
