HP just announced a smaller version of the HP Omen 15 gaming laptop. It carries the same design as its predecessor, but comes in a much smaller chassis that has been cut down by 7.4 percent in width and 4.6 percent in depth. Besides the sleeker design, the laptop will also support the latest Intel Coffee Lake processors and an Nvidia Max-Q graphics card.

The smaller design can also be credited to the slimmer bezels around the screen. HP claims that it managed to trim down the side bezels by 65 percent. The top bezel is only 32 percent smaller as it still accommodates the webcam. Nonetheless, it will help make the experience more immersive compared to last year’s variant. Besides that, the laptop features a plastic chassis with black matte finish and red accents

HP Omen 15 specifications and features

The smaller HP Omen will come in a few configurations. The highest will feature an Intel Core i7 chipset running alongside an Nvidia GTX 1070 Max-Q and 32GB of RAM. While the lower end variant is said to carry an Intel Core i5 chipset, with an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti graphics card and 12 GB of RAM. You can get the laptop with a minimum storage of 1TB hard drive and 128GB SSD.

With the smaller bezels, HP is also offering a 1080 display with 144Hz refresh rate. There is also an option to upgrade to 4K screen, but it will only support 60Hz. HP has also redesigned the cooling system on the laptop. The compact chassis comes with vents at the bottom and the back that help pull cool air inside, while the dual fans push out heat form the corner of the chassis. The HP Omen 15 is also one of the first devices to come pre-installed with Omen Game Stream. This feature can be used to stream games from the laptop to a big-screen TV.
