Gamers can rejoice, because there is more in the air now about the upcoming gaming consoles than ever before. According to the rumor mills, Sony has announced that the life cycle of the PlayStation 4 is almost at an end, prompting the advent of the next generation. And if the latest rumors are to be considered true, then Microsoft also has the next generation of the Xbox in the works.
In an interview with GamingBolt, Industry analyst Michael Pachter has let out that he is almost certain that the next generation of Xbox will arrive before the PlayStation 5 hit the markets. And the next generation of Xbox consoles is codenamed ‘Scarlett’. According to Pachter, the new Xbox console is likely to hit the market sometime in 2020, which is still a distance away.
He commented, “I’m sure Microsoft intends to launch first, and I am equally certain that the new Xbox will be backwards-compatible with any Xbox One X software.”
According to a report by a publisher named Thurott, it is the developer team that has named the device Scarlett. This does not shed any light towards what the new Xbox may be called but it can be assumed that it won’t be called Scarlett since this is just a development codename. And unlike Sony, Microsoft does not follow a set or sequential pattern of naming.

The report details that the new console might be a hybrid project that will take advantage of both a cloud-based gaming service as well as a normal gaming console. Well, we can always hope to see the device sooner rather than later.
