PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has had the event mode on and off during the weekends. More on than off, and the reasons for not having the events were usually if another big update hit during the weekends, like the Sanhok Pass. But this week we are about to see the rerun of a popular mode that we have already seen previously.
Metal Rain is an event mode where users will find the flare gun in the world beside common loot. Shooting a flare from the gun towards the sky will prompt a drop on the target location. The contents of the drop will vary based on whether the flare is inside the white circle or outside. If the flare is shot outside the white circle it will prompt the aircraft to drop a heavily armored UAZ vehicle. While shooting it inside the white circle will prompt a drop with level 3 armor and weapons.
PUBG has added a HUD element that will show how many vehicle and weapon drops are left for the team to avail. Metal Rain will take place exclusively on the Erangle map, and players will form teams of eight to compete against each other. Normal plan drops are enabled, along with dynamic weather and redzone.
The developers have disabled the friendly fire option that will make sure that players can’t kill their teammates to steal their loot. The mode will be available in both first-person and third-person perspective on North America, Europe and Asia servers. While Korea, Japan, South East Asia, Oceania, and South America servers only have the mode available in third-person perspective.
