We had previously reported that Roskstar Games does not intend to launch the next GTA game until 2022 as the game would require quite a bit of work. But recently there was a report of gamers being teased about the launch of the Grand Theft Auto VI within the GTA V game.

Most people were convinced that this was an official announcement and this caused considerable excitement within the gaming world to say the least. But as it turns out it was a hoax after all. GTA developers Rockstar games has now officially made a statement saying that “This is a hoax made with the use of mods, and not an official message or statement from Rockstar Games.”

There were several reports from gamers of all platforms who encountered a message ingame that claimed to be official and read that GTA 6 is coming, and these claims were supported by screenshots. The message simply claimed that GTA 6 is due next year.

But now Rockstar games has confirmed that this was the work of a few modders who had somehow found a way to get access to Rockstar’s announcement systems. And that is how they were able to get across the message in the single player mode.

There have been times when devs resorted to such dramatic ways ro announce things, which is why there was a confusion about the credibility of the message to begin with. But now that all that has been cleared up, we can go back to our broken hearted selves while waiting for the game to arrive in 2022.
