There are some very worthy mobile accessories out there, ranging from chargers to speakers to hands-free kits, but if we must confess to being most impressed by the Olive Nexus V-R9. In simple terms, it is a Wi-Fi router. But that would be really over-simplifying matters, for it is actually totally portable and can slip into a pocket unobtrusively. It also comes with its own battery (providing up to 2-3 hours back-up with a couple of iPads connected to it), and supports connectivity with just about every device that can connect to the Internet. You can plug an ethernet cable into it, a datacard and heck, if you do have a 3G handset, even connect that using a data cable and create your own Wi-Fi hotspot wherever you are – it supports EDGE/3G/ EVDO/HSPA. Yes, configuring it can get a little complex (especially with data cards),we do think it could have looked better, and some might wince at its Rs 3,499 price tag. But we think it is a terrific option for those who love to work on the move as it frees up a USB port on netbooks and heck, lets you surf the Net at broadband speeds on a Wi-Fi only iPad without needing to go for a micro-SIM.
