Earlier this week, UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) simplified the Aadhaar and mobile number linking process for re-verification purpose using IVR and OTP. The facility was enabled for telecom operators such as Vodafone, Airtel and Idea Cellular. Now, State-run telecom operator, BSNL, has rolled out Aadhaar-based online verification of mobile connections for senior citizens above 70 years, NRIs and physically challenged persons.

For the purpose of re-verification, the web application can be used by BSNL users from the comforts of their home. The service can be used by those who have a biometric ID but their mobile number is not registered with UIDAI, or by non-resident Indians who do not have Aadhaar number. Here’s our step-by-step guide.

Step One

To re-verify and link your Aadhaar with BSNL mobile number, you will have to visit BSNL’s website and click on mobile number reverification link here. Users will have to sign up using their mobile number, or sign in, if they already have an account created. BSNL will then send an OTP on the registered mobile number, which they need to enter on the site for authentication.

Step Two

Once the authentication is complete, users need to fill the mandatory fields in the form, and upload valid documents such as passport, PAN card or driving license among others. After the upload is successful, users will have to ‘click’ on continue, which will generate a transaction ID.

Step Three

Next, users will have to share the transaction ID and mobile number with a known (trusted) person who already has Aadhaar and mobile number linked. The trusted person should also be willing to share his/her details for the verification of NRI customers, senior citizens or physically challenged person.

Step Four

Once the trusted person is ready, they have to visit trusted person URL here, and enter details (transaction ID and mobile number) of the BSNL user. The person also has to enter their Aadhaar number, after which an OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number.

Step Five

The trusted person will have to enter the OTP, and after authentication, a message will be sent to the customer. Once the circle Admin approves the documents, the re-verification process will be completed.
