State-run telecom operator, BSNL, recently introduced Aadhaar-based online verification process for the NRIs, elderly and physically challenged persons. The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), recently simplified the process of Aadhaar-mobile number linking process that allows subscribers to call on a toll-free number and to reverify and link their mobile number with Aadhaar.
While the service was initially implemented by Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular, the service is now available for BSNL subscribers too. Subscribers can now complete the re-verification process from home, by simply calling the toll-free number. Currently, the service is only available in select states, which includes Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Kerala and Punjab, TelecomTalk reports.
BSNL Aadhaar linking from home: Step-by-step guide
To begin with, you need to call on 14546 from your BSNL number. It is a toll-free number, so you don’t have to worry about call charges.
You need to select your desired language and confirm.
You will then need to enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number. The IVR will repeat the number you entered, and if that is correct press 1. In case you entered a wrong number, press 2 to re-enter the number.
After you confirm the number, a 6-digit OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. You need to enter this number for the authentication.
Once successfully authenticated, your details will be verified in the next 48 hours, and if they match, your BSNL mobile number will be linked with Aadhaar. The process is that simple.
BSNL subscribers who have their biometric ID but the mobile number isn’t registered with UIDAI can use the web application for the re-verification purpose. You can find our step-by-step guide here. Meanwhile, you can read similar tutorials in our how to section.
