The Aadhaar card has now become a mandatory document, which also acts as an address and identity proof. You need it for all for opening a bank account, while getting a new mobile connection, when buying a vehicle or a house, and even when applying for a passport or driving license. At the time of enrolling for Aadhaar card, you have to provide your mobile number and email address, and these are two important details of the database.
Your email ID and mobile number are often required for KYC-based authentication. It is where you will be receiving the OTP (one-time-password), and that is exactly what makes them critical. Because of this, it is important to keep your mobile number and email ID updated. If you can head over to UIDAI’s website and verify these details using your Aadhaar number.
Simply head over to UIDAI’s website and click on Aadhaar services. Here, you have a few options, and under Aadhaar data verification – you can enter your card number and verify if it’s valid or not. You can also verify your mobile number and email ID here. There are other options such as secure biometrics to avoid misuse, and also check the status of Aadhaar linking with your bank account.
Now, to verify your email ID and mobile, head over to UIDAI website (uidai.gov.in), followed by Aadhaar services and click on verify email ID / mobile number (or click here).
Now, enter your Aadhaar number, followed by either the email ID or mobile number that you had given at the time on enrolling for Aadhaar. Next, enter the security code from captcha, and then click on get one-time password.
An OTP will be sent on your mobile phone and you need to enter it on the right column, and click on verify OTP. Once successfully authenticated, you will get an onscreen message that your email ID / mobile number is successfully verified.
Now, in case your mobile number or email ID is not linked to your Aadhaar, you will have to visit the nearby enrollment center and get it linked. You can find an enrolment center in your locality by clicking here.
