HTC has announced that it is developing a wireless streaming standard based on DLNA technology called HTC Connect. This technology strives to provide a simple and seamless Airplay like streaming for HTC devices. The Taiwanese smartphone vendor is introducing a certification program for connect so that a compatible hardware ecosystem is built around the technology to supplement its mobile devices.

Pioneer is the first partner for the certification program and has released three Airplay and HTC Connect compatible speakers – A1, A3 and A4. These speakers have not been announced for India and right now are only available in the US. Initially devices using HTC Connect will be solely based on DLNA but over time the standard will evolve to include technologies like Bluetooth and NFC, and will support more wireless speakers, as well and car audio systems.
