HTC Desire 516 with 5-inch display and quad-core processor launched in India, priced at Rs 14,200

HTC has launched a new mid-range smartphone in India called the Desire 516, priced at Rs 14,200. The smartphone is already available on an e-commerce site for Rs 13,302.

Talking of specifications, the Desire 516 flaunts a 5-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) display and is powered by a Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM. Also included, is 4GB internal storage that can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.

The smartphone also features a 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 1,950mAh battery that the company claims is good enough to survive nine hours of talktime and up to 220 hours on standby mode.

Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

At this price point, comparisons will be made with the highly popular Motorola Moto G, which is available for Rs 12,499. The Moto G features a 4.5-inch HD display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB/16GB internal storage, 5-megapixel rear, 1.3-megapixel front-facing cameras, and it runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
