HTC Desire 616 octa-core smartphone launched in India, priced at Rs 16,900

In addition to launching the One (E8), HTC also launched the Desire 616 at the event in New Delhi. The mid-range smartphone is priced at Rs 16,900 and will be available next week.

Talking of specifications, the Desire 616 flaunts a 5-inch 720p display, and is powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek’s “true” MT6592 octa-core chipset, paired with Mali-450MP4 GPU and 1GB of RAM. Also included is 4GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.

The smartphone also features an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,000mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Powered by an octa-core processor, the Desire 616 will be up against smartphones like the Micromax Canvas Knight A350, Karbonn Titanium Octane and the Gionee Elife E7 mini among others.

    No thanks, Moto G is much better at 14k. I save 3000 RS and I’m not gonna die if I lose .5 inches. Happy with 4.5 screen at 720p, better processor and most of all 4.4 Kit Kat with L coming soon.

      Octa-Core is really doubtful and Mali-450MP4 should have been paired with a better chipset and NOT a MediaTek so yes, its true that

      Moto G is much better at 14k

    guys there’s a correction, the Desire 616′s CPU is not MT6592. It’s MT6592M which is an underclocked version with 1.4 Ghz clock rate.
