HTC’s Explorer will be offering support for text input and display of Hindi and Tamil languages making it the first Android device to do so. This will enable users to view and compose content in Hindi and Tamil on any compatible Android application.

“Language is the basic medium in which people communicate and people communicate most effectively and smoothly in a language which they grew up and are familiar with. That’s why HTC has made Indian language support a key priority as part of our commitment to India.” said Lennard Hoornik, president of South Asia, HTC Corporation.

Users can now access Hindi and Tamil websites and even send and receive text messages and emails in these languages. HTC is also working on expanding its list of regional language support in India and hopes to make the facility available even in future HTC smartphones launched in the country. An over-the-air update starting from tomorrow will facilitate Explorer users to download Hindi and Tamil support capability.

HTC Explorer comes with a 3.2” HVGA touchscreen along with a 3MP camera and is available with customizable back covers in blue, orange, white and purple at a price tag of Rs. 11,650.
