Rumor has it: HTC’s Android devices to get PlayStation suite
When Sony had announced its PlayStation suite for its Android portfolio, the company had specified that it would license the suite to competing Android OEMs, and it is being reported that HTC will become the first Android vendor to receive the PlayStation suite. As of now there as been no official announcement from either Sony or HTC, but the folks at Pocket-Lint are pointing towards a MWC announcement later this month.
If true, HTC’s Android users will have the ability to play older PlayStation One titles such as Crash Bandicoot on their smartphones. Interestingly, this will give HTC handsets an unique differentiation from their Android competitors, as their devices already boast of ‘Beats Audio’ technology which facilitates enhanced bass response and an overall richer audio experience on smartphones.
Perhaps by integrating both the PlayStation suite and Beats Audio, HTC can regain lost ground from the likes of Samsung and Motorola. Over the past two years, HTC has gone from being the numero uno Android smartphone manufacturer to a struggling one, due to bulky smartphone designs, buggy Sense UI, iterative smartphone upgrades and the lack of substantial differentiation from its competitors.
We will surely keep an eye on this development, but till this rumor becomes official, it will remain a rumor and we will advice our readers to take it with a pinch of salt.
