Normally phones are designed outside in – yes, the designers do have some specs in mind but it is the casing that makes all the difference. Not the new Moto RAZR. According to Bill Ogle, CMO, Motorola Mobility, the world’s thinnest smartphone was created around the world’s thinnest battery. “We were at a conference last year and our head engineer grabbed me and our Chairman aside to show the thinnest battery in the world and we could make a phone. The first time I saw it, I said I see a new RAZR,” he said at the phone’s launch in New York.

This is the first time we are hearing any such story about a phone being designed around a battery. Well, we will take the sequence of events with a grain of salt, but it certainly makes for a good story and an even better marketing pitch nevertheless. The Android avatar of Moto RAZR will be launched in India later this month. Stay tuned.
