Key MeeGo development team members leave Nokia
Yesterday, Nokia delivered the PR 1.3 update for the Nokia N9, which runs MeeGo. Nokia had promised support for the OS for years even after it had adopted Windows Phone as its primary OS, but things look bleak as that key members of the MeeGo team have left the company after delivering the PR 1.3 update.
MeeGo development lead Sotiris Makyrgiannis took to Twitter to announce that he was leaving the company after twelve years, but was content, as he had worked on the ‘legendary’ N9. Additionally, more members of the team are leaving for a start up called Cloudtech where they will also develop apps for MeeGo. Having said that, it remains to be seen what is left of the MeeGo team at Nokia and one could imagine shutting down development for the OS altogether.
After 12 years at #Nokia is time to say goodbye. Last day but I’m going knowing that we created a legendary phone #N9 and we tried hard.
