Last week we were sent a media invite by Nokia, which read “It’s a BIG day for us,” and we guessed that it would be launching theLumia 1520 phablet in India. Right on cue, the Finnish company officially launched the Windows Phone 8 phablet in India for Rs 46,999.
The Lumia 1520, if you remember, was unveiled at the Nokia World 2013 event in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. Nokia’s first phablet flaunts a 6-inch 1080p ClearBack full HD display and with a bigger display takes advantage of a third new column of tiles on the homescreen.
It is powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM. In terms of its photo clicking abilities, the phablet features a 20-megapixel PureView camera with dual LED flash, optical image stabilization (OIS) and Nokia Camera app, and a 1.2-megapixel front camera.
Other features include 32GB internal memory that is expandable up to 64GB using a microSD card slot along with 7GB of free Skydrive space and 3,400mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough to survive through 25.1 hours of talktime and 32 days on standby mode. The phablet also supports wireless charging.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC, and on the software front, it runs on Windows Phone 8 with Lumia Black update. Nokia is offering the device in yellow, white, black and glossy red color variants. Additionally, Nokia also launched the CP623 protective case for the Lumia 1520 for Rs 2,999.
