Nokia Lumia 720 tops Samsung’s Galaxy range as the bestselling handset on Flipkart

Nokia seems to doing quite well in India with its Lumia range of phones slowly carving out a niche for themselves. Its latest launches like the Lumia 520, Lumia 620 and Lumia 720 are doing quite well in their respective segments and it no surprise that the Lumia 720 is currently topping the best sellers chart on Flipkart.

When you sort the phones on Flipkart based on their popularity, the Lumia 720 comes up top, ahead of the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Grand, Galaxy S III and Micromax’s Ninja A89 among others. The list also contains feature phones, which is an indication that the Lumia 720’s success is not only restricted to its own segment. The handset has also been well received by people with nearly 148 users reviewing the product with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5.

The Lumia 720’s success comes at a time when phones across Nokia’s range are doing quite well and the Finnish company shipped nearly 62 million handsets worldwide in the first quarter of 2013. Of these 62 million, Nokia says that they shipped 5.6 million Lumia smartphones, which can be attributed to the recent launch of phones like the Lumia 520, Lumia 620 and Lumia 720.

Just to remind you of specifications on the Lumia 720 which launched for Rs 18,999, the phone sports a 4.3-inch WVGA clear black display that works with gloves too and is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM. Other features included on the phone are a 6.7-megapixel wide-angle camera at the rear with a 1/1.36″ sensor size with backside illumination and an aperture of f/1.9 and a front-facing wide-angle 1.3-megapixel camera, 8GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot and a 2,000mAh battery.

Nokia is back. They finally managed to combine their ever top notch build quality with a refreshing and extremely fluid operating system. Compared to my Samsung galaxy S3, my girlfriends Lumia 800 looks like new. Where plastic paint of my GS3 is wearing of, the cyan colored polycarbonate stays vibrant showing no signs of wear. My next phone will definitly be a Lumia 720 or Lumia 920. I wont fall for this over marketed Galaxy hype again.
