Nokia’s Refocus Lens app brings Lytro-like features to the Lumia 1520
Back in April, we reported about Nokia working on a Lytro-like camera feature for its Lumia smartphones. And now after six-odd months, the company has finally brought this tech to its Lumia devices via a new camera app called ‘Refocus Lens’. The app which was announced at the recently concluded Nokia World 2013 essentially brings variable depth of field to the cameras on Lumia devices and allows a user to change the focus of a picture. This app debuts on the Lumia 1520 phablet and will later arrive on older Lumia devices.
As mentioned above, one will be able to change the focus of a clicked photo, with just a simple tap. Nokia isn’t using any unique hardware to achieve that, instead its using a software app that can create similar results. Nokia has also added a feature called ‘Color Pop’, which highlights or lets one add colors to that photo. The company has said that the clicked photo will be available in a resolution of 5-megapixels, and is also said to work with Facebook.
