Look who just parked itself on the lawn outside building #44 at Googleplex! Yup, in the middle of Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread and Honeycomb, Mr Ice Cream Sandwich became the latest installation, arriving the same day as invites for Samsung’s press conference for its next Android product launch landed in our inbox. Ice Cream Sandwich is expected to bridge the gap between Gingerbread (optimized for smartphones) and Honeycomb (for tablets) variants of Android. It will also enable developers to make their apps run on either form-factor without having to create multiple versions for smartphones and tablets. The launch is less than a week away and we cannot wait to see what Google CEO, Larry Page, says is almost magical and “you won’t believe what we have managed to get done in this release.”
