Earlier this week, Amazon India teased the imminent launch of the Samsung Galaxy K zoom on its homepage. Today, the South Korean company has officially launched the smartphone in India, priced at Rs 29,999. Pre-orders for the device starts at midnight on the e-commerce site, with shipments set to begin on July 9.
The Samsung Galaxy K zoom boasts a 20.7-megapixel camera with 1/2.3 BSI CMOS sensor and 10x digital zoom. The camera also features optical image stabilization (OIS), a Xenon flash, AF/AE Separation, a Pro Suggest mode that will offer five optimized filter settings and a Selfie Alarm for timed selfies. The camera UI too has been simplified, bringing it more in line with the redesigned camera UI seen on the Galaxy S5.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Galaxy K zoom flaunts a 4.8-inch 720p Super AMOLED display and is powered by a hexa-core Exynos 5 Hexa (5260) processor (two 1.7GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores) and 2GB of RAM.
The device also features a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card, and a 2,430mAh battery along with the Ultra Power Saving Mode. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0LE, GPS, NFC and HSPA+, and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. You can read the first impressions of the device here.
Amazon India is also offering freebies worth Rs 6,000 to the first 1,000 customers, as well as a free Samsung Pop out case. The introductory offer also includes a 32GB SanDisk microSD card, six free movie tickets, and coupons to buy handbags and watches worth Rs 1,000 each.
