Samsung yesterday launched the Galaxy S Duos 2, which is basically the successor to its Galaxy S Duos, which was launched a few months back in India. The phone is Samsung’s mid-range option to compete against the those by the local vendors. This newbie is based on a similar design and display like the original Galaxy S Duos but is better in terms of software and hardware features. Here we compare this phone with its predecessor to give you a fair idea about the difference between the two phones.
Display: There is no difference in the display size or quality in both the phones. So like the previous model, the Galaxy S Duos 2 as well dons a 4-inch TFT display with 480×800 pixels resolution.
Hardware/memory: the processor in this new variant has been upgraded to 1.2GHz chipset with dual-core which should mean a better and smoother performance then the predecessor. The RAM size and internal memory remains same as the previous model, but the external memory space on the latest model is double than the earlier model.
Software: Samsung has made sure to offer a newer version of Android on the Galaxy S Duos 2, which is now upgraded from Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Camera: Both the models of the S Duos sport a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a VGA front-facing camera. The only difference is that the Galaxy S Duos 2 also comes with support for HD video playback and recording at 720p.
Additional features: Be it connectivity options like support for 3G network, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and AGPS or the battery backup, both the models come with similar features. Being the Duos series phones, these obviously come with dual-SIM support.
